Configure Skills
Use Skills and CLAUDE.md to give Claude Code domain knowledge, workflows and tooling it does not have by default.
Skills are capability packs for Claude Code — they hand Claude domain expertise, workflows and tooling. Install a Skill and Claude picks up a new ability.
Installing Skills
Through /plugin (recommended)
Type /plugin in Claude Code to open the plugin manager. The built-in marketplace is backed by Anthropic's official Skills repository, so you can browse, install and manage Skills from there directly.
Search the Discover tab for the Skill you want and install it in one click.
From the command line
You can also install a specific Skill directly:
claude install <skill-name>Skill marketplaces
Besides the built-in marketplace, there are good third-party platforms:
- Skills.sh — an open Agent Skills ecosystem; search and install with a single command
- ClawHub — a community-driven publishing platform with versioning and semantic search
Project-level Skills: CLAUDE.md
Create a CLAUDE.md in your project root. Claude Code loads it automatically at startup and treats it as project context and house rules:
# Project conventions
## Stack
- Next.js 16 + TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS v4
- pnpm as the package manager
## Coding conventions
- Components use PascalCase
- Prefer Server Components
- Keep test coverage at 80% or aboveCLAUDE.md is the most common way to configure a project-level Skill: nothing to install, it just has to sit in the project root.
