Install Claude Code

Claude Code is an AI coding assistant that understands your whole codebase and can work across many files and tools. It runs in the terminal, in your IDE, as a desktop app and in the browser.

Requirements

• A Flatrouter API key (create one under Console → API Keys). No Claude subscription required.

Install methods

Terminal CLI

The full-featured CLI, for using Claude Code directly in your terminal.

macOS / Linux / WSL:

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash

Windows PowerShell:

irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex

Windows CMD:

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.cmd -o install.cmd && install.cmd && del install.cmd

Once it is installed, configure a model provider before your first run.

VS Code / Cursor

Gives you inline diffs, @-mentions, plan review and conversation history inside the editor.

Search for "Claude Code" in the Extensions view (Cmd+Shift+X / Ctrl+Shift+X) and install it. Then open the command palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P), type "Claude Code" and choose Open in New Tab.

JetBrains IDEs

Works with IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm and others, with an interactive diff viewer and selection-based context sharing.

Install the Claude Code plugin from the JetBrains Marketplace, then restart the IDE.

Verify the install

claude --version
# a version number means the install succeeded

Updating and uninstalling
